Ceramic proppant (or ceramic sand) is a synthetic, high-performance fracturing material sintered from bauxite, designed for deep oil/gas well stimulation. With crush resistance up to 100MPa, thermal stability (≥1200°C), and acid resistance (solubility ≤2%), its spherical granules maintain fracture conductivity under extreme downhole pressures.

Classified by density:

• High-density (3.4-3.8g/cm³): For ultra-deep wells (>4000m) or >80MPa closure stress
• Medium-density (2.7-3.3g/cm³): Dominates shale gas projects, optimizing strength/suspension
• Low-density (≤2.6g/cm³): Ideal for horizontal wells, minimizing settling

Available in 20/40 to 70/140 mesh, resin coatings can reduce flowback and boost conductivity. Compared to natural sand, ceramic proppant cuts fines generation by >50% and increases well output by 20%-30%, making it essential for shale/tight reservoirs.
